Betty Petkovsek

Betty Petkovsek has served on the MISD Board of Trustees for 11 years. She and her husband, Jim, are co-owners of North Side Pharmacy in McKinney. They have three daughters who attended McKinney schools and are graduates of McKinney High School. Sara, Rebecca, and Hannah are currently students at the University of Texas in Austin. Petkovsek has worked as a registered pharmacist for 25 years at their family owned business.

During her tenure on the board, Petkovsek has seen thousands of new students move into the district each year. She acknowledges parents are choosing to raise and educate their children here and she is proud of the high academic achievement of all MISD students. Petkovsek continues to focus her energies on working with the board and Superintendent to provide the necessary resources to support, equip, and measure classroom effectiveness at all levels.

In addition to working to achieve high academic standards, Petkovsek sees prudent fiscal management and effective planning as critical in a fast growth environment. This is especially evident in efforts required to build new schools and maintain and update current district facilities. She is proud of the district's commitment to provide equitable learning environments to all children and looks for strong ties between building expenditures and academic goals.

Petkovsek also acknowledges the benefit of attracting and retaining quality individuals who are committed to providing an outstanding education. She supports district efforts to create a working environment that will attract and keep quality teachers and administrators.

Petkovsek is a member of the First United Methodist Church and is currently serving as a board member of the Community Children's health clinic.
