McKinney Education Foundation Accepting Scholarship Applications Online Through Feb. 20
Also Offering Free “Financial Aid 101” SeminarsJan 15, 2009
McKINNEY, TX, Jan. 14, 2008 – The McKinney Education Foundation (MEF) is accepting applications for higher education scholarships through February 20. Applications should be submitted online at www.MmEeFf.com. Scholarships will be awarded May 29 at MEF’s annual Awards Event.
Last year, MEF awarded more than 200 scholarships to McKinney graduates. These scholarships are funded and made possible by donations from McKinney individuals, civic organizations, and businesses—men and women who understand the value of helping young people achieve a higher education.
“This year’s tough financial times will place an even bigger burden on these 2009 graduates as they struggle to pay for college,” said MEF Executive Director Melanie Perkins. “Now, more than ever, we are asking groups and individuals who may have been considering funding a scholarship to contact us, so we can make certain these young people have the resources they need to pursue their dreams of higher education.”
Financial Aid 101
To help students and parents learn more about seeking financial aid, MEF is offering a free seminar titled, “Financial Aid 101.” The seminars are being presented by the MEF Advisors, trained college admissions and financial resource counselors who are housed at each of the three McKinney high schools to educate students and parents about applying for college and seeking financial assistance.
“Financial Aid 101” is free and open to the public at the following times and locations:
McKinney North High School Auditorium
7:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 22
McKinney High School Auditorium
7:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26
McKinney Boyd High School Auditorium
