John Valencia
One of the founding members of the McKinney Education Foundation Board of Trustees, John Valencia is passionate about education. "I believe that there's no better investment than our youth," Valencia says.
After a 27 year career, Valencia recently retired from Primo Microphones, Inc. where he held positions as General Manager and Vice President, Director of Operations, Plant Manager and Director of Sales, Marketing and New Product Development. Primo sells, distributes and performs assembly services in microphones and small speakers for the telecom and audio industries.
Not wanting to stray too far out of the community, he now serves as Director of Business Retention, Expansion and Emerging Technology for the McKinney Economic Development Corporation. “Being a part of the McKinney Education Foundation is very much a part of Economic Development. Our kids are our future! It all works hand in hand.”
Valencia actively supports several community organizations by serving in key leadership capacities. Among the groups benefiting from his volunteerism and Board work, are the Collin College, the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary and of course the MEF!
For his many contributions, Valencia was named 2002 Outstanding McKinney Citizen and one of 21 leaders for the 21st Century by Inside Collin County Business in 1999. In 2008 he was honored as an Emeritus Trustee for the McKinney Education Foundation. |
